2,500 police officers will carry out tasks on Eid day

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Friday announced the deployment of 2,500 personnel to Eid congregations, public places, shopping malls and other major buildings to prevent suspicious activity

ISLAMABAD, July 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – July 8, 2022): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Friday announced the deployment of 2,500 personnel to Eid congregations, public places, malls and other important buildings to prevent suspicious activity.

According to the spokesperson, the capital’s police have drawn up a comprehensive security plan to maintain peace and tranquility in the neighborhood on the eve of Eid-ul-Azh.

He said that following special orders from IGP Islamabad, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, a comprehensive security plan for Eid Ul Azha prayer has been released.

According to the security plan, more than 1000 police officers including 4 SPs, 11 ASP/DSPs will protect the Eid prayers which will be offered in 1032 mosques and 28 imambarghs which have been classified according to their sensitivity.

Likewise, more than 100 police officers will be deployed at the Faisal Mosque to ensure the safety of worshippers.

All mosques, imambarghs, religious places, public parks and other important places will have maximum security on Eid day, adding that DIG Operations Sohail Zafar Chatha will monitor all security arrangements in the city. City security will also be monitored by security cameras and special police squads.

Similarly, 800 Eagle Squad personnel will be delegated to the city to patrol all public and sensitive places while more than 150 Special Branch personnel will perform their duties during Eid prayer.

Similarly, 278 traffic officers, including an SP and 4 DSPs are deployed to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the city.

SSP Traffic will monitor traffic arrangements. A single ride will not be allowed and those who break traffic rules will be dealt with with iron fists while public places, parks and playgrounds will be kept under strict surveillance and security.

IGP Islamabad, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan has strictly ordered all Area Officers that a large number of people gather for Eid prayer and the Area Officers concerned would be responsible for security around places of worship in their respective areas.

He also requested the physical presence of the SPs, SDPOs and SHOs in their respective areas.

He said the eagles, falcons and vehicles of the police station will patrol around places of worship, public and important places and buildings while special police teams from the CTD will be deployed in areas of Bhara Kahu.

The Islamabad Police Chief maintained that the purpose of all security measures is to keep congregations safe, prevent terrorist activity and maintain peace in the city.
