Establishment of a security unit for foreigners at the CPO – Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The city’s police decided on Saturday to set up a foreigners’ security cell within the Central Police Office (CPO). The District Foreign Security Cell (DFSC) will be led by additional superintendent operations under the operations oversight of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG).

This was decided in a meeting held at the CPO under the chairmanship of IGP Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan. Senior municipal police officers also attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that measures are being taken in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Interior regarding the safety of Chinese nationals/foreigners.

The necessary coordination will be carried out with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and law enforcement agencies. It was decided to apply all standard operating procedures for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) security projects on the CPEC security model.

Likewise, the Special Branch, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Security Division will periodically check the security arrangements. The capital’s police will hire the services of young Chinese-speaking Pakistani men and women to help Chinese people living in non-CPEC projects and working for other private companies.
