Major reshuffles in Punjab Police with replacement of AIG CTD

LAHORE: A major Punjab Police overhaul has taken place after provincial authorities recommended replacements for additional officers from the IG CTD and Regional Police (RPO), ARY NEWS reported.

According to a notification issued today, the provincial government has recommended replacing AIG CTD Waseem Ahmed Sial with incumbent RPO Sargodha Imran Mahmood while DIG Azhar Akram will be assigned as RPO Sargodha.

Faisal Ali Raja will be assigned to the DIG Intelligence Branch while other appointments included Afzal Mahmood Butt as DIG VIP Special Security Branch, Captain (Retd) Sohail as DIG CTD and Afzal Kousar as Operations DIG.

On July 22, the Punjab government appointed Faisal Shahkar as the new Provincial Inspector General (IG) shortly after Rao Sardar refused to continue serving ahead of the election of Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab.

According to notifications issued by the Manpower Division, Rao Sardar Ali Khan has been replaced by Faisal Shahkar. Rao Sardar was appointed as Inspector General of Pakistan Railways with immediate effect.

The appointment came after senior government officials – IG Punjab and Chief Secretary Kamran Afzal – refused to continue in their posts. AD Khawaja, Faisal Shahkar and Inam Ghani were strong contenders for the post of IG Punjab.

Later, the Punjab government appointed Ghulam Mahmood Dogar as Capital Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, replacing Bilal Siddique Kamyana who was transferred to the Center soon after Parvez Elahi was elected as Chief Minister of Punjab.

BPS-21 Officer Ghulam Mahmood Dogar previously served as CCPO Lahore and took strong action against criminal elements during his tenure.

On July 27, hours after Parvez Elahi was sworn in as chief minister of Punjab, the federal government dismissed CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana.
