Passenger driving banned to keep peace in Muharram

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News – July 29, 2022): The district administration on Friday banned passenger driving during the first ten days of Holy Muharam-ul-Haram.

According to the notification issued by the DC office, the ban was imposed as part of the contingency plan to maintain peace during Muharram.

It also indicates that the display, brandishing of weapons and lethal weapons had been prohibited.

The contingency plan suggested and sought to prohibit the passenger from driving for the first 8 days. The plan reveals that there would be a total ban on motorcycling on the 9th and 10th days of the holy month.

Previously, the district police officer, Captain Najmul Hasnain, held meetings with senior officials, including departmental sector commanders for the peaceful observance of Muharam-ul-Haram.

Javed Awan Additional SP Survey SP Survey Shabeer Hussain, SP FRP Nisar Khan Marwat, SP CTD, DSP Headquarters Asghar Ali Shah and Sector Commanders and relevant staff attended the meeting.

The DPO has called for strict vigilance via CCTV cameras around imambarghs and mosques as well as patrols at exit and entry points to the city and on the routes of ascending processions.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Army contingents also held a flag march in front of Muharam in the city and its adjoining areas to ensure high security.
